Chris takes mathematics to a whole new level with his DebateMath routines. Debate Math not only helps to develop math identities-it also sparks joy and creativity in all learners. All math teachers should give Debate Math a try in their classrooms!

Debate Math is a powerful routine that teachers can build into lessons quickly and it helps teachers get students talking about math...My teachers were able to put their learning into practice right away!

Kids love it!  They want to debate over the most random things.  Using the sentence structures allows students to focus on the reason behind their opinion rather than just arguing.

Math can be debated. I never thought of math as something that could be “argued.” I just assumed that you either got a wrong answer or a right answer. There are so many possibilities! Also how amazing of a critical thinking tool is it when we help our students explain why their answer may be right or wrong, listening to all points of view helps us ALL learn things and open up possibilities.

Chris's ideas are game-changing. There is so much to learn from students when they are allowed to pick a stance and justify their reasoning. As a teacher, consultant and district admin, I have seen more learning in math class when students have the opportunity to debate math!

Chris's collaboration with our secondary math teachers has increased student engagement by creating a vibrant classroom atmosphere that promotes active student discussions. Teachers are enthusiastic about incorporating his debate strategies into their teaching practices. Furthermore, this training has inspired teachers to explore and implement new strategies with their students, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement in teaching practices.
